Darlings is a 2022 quirky tale by Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma in lead roles. This is Alia Bhatt’s debut production along with Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma. released on August 5, 2022.
Here are some of the things I liked about the movie Darlings:
Alia Bhatt as Badru
No one could have done such an exceptional job other than Alia Bhatt. She has portrayed it so smoothly, though it was a challenging role. From being innocent to clever, Badru has taken us for a ride. She is a fearless and loving character, especially in the film’s second half.
Shefali Shah as Shamshu
We know Shefali Shah for taking up such intriguing roles in her career and I loved her in the film. Her acting is on point. Shamshu is humorous as well as clever. They showed her bravery from the beginning of the film. From being flamboyant to being emotional, she has done it with perfection.
Vijay Varma as Hamza Shaikh
Taking up such roles as an actor is the most challenging and has its pros and cons. Vijay Varma has done a splendid job in the movie. Hamza is adamant and the way the actor has portrayed it is unbelievable.
The second half of the movie
The movie’s first half was nerve-wracking and made us sit throughout, but the film’s second half was a significant change. I loved how Badru realized and overcame her fears, and how Shamshu helped her at every point. The drama made an interesting turn which was so gripping.
What could be better
More screen time
Special mention of Roshan Mathew as Zulfi and Rajesh Sharma as Kasim. I loved them in the pivotal roles, but the makers could have stretched their roles out more.
Conclusion
This movie has resembled bravery as well as comedy in its own way. The verdict of Darlings is 4/5, and it’s a must-watch. It is available on Netflix.
